"The Walking Dead" returns for a sixth season on Sunday, 11 October, with the episode "First Time Again" that will see Rick and group trying to protect Alexandria Safe-Zone from a new threat.

The premiere episode can be watched online by clicking here.

According to the official synopsis of the episode, Rick and the group will still be in Alexandria Safe-Zone when the season returns, and they might be facing a new threat. "Will a new threat bring them closer together or drive them farther apart?" the synopsis questions.

As for what will happen in the first episode of the season, reports note that two stories will be tackled in the first hour. One will be the aftermath of the events of season 5 finale, and the second will see the gang trying to pull off "one of the biggest plans they've ever attempted," according to Hypable.

Spoilers on the upcoming season have been doing the rounds for a while now, and it looks like Negan, one of the most notorious villains in "The Walking Dead" comic books played by Robert Kirkman, could be gracing the screens soon.

According to TVLine, the comic book villain will be featured in season 6 finale this spring. A clue to Negan's introduction was given earlier this month when the AMC series issued a casting notice for someone named "Orin".

As per the casting notice, Orin is a brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, and fun loving sociopath who is both a leader of men and a killer of men. "He has both a practical and emotional intelligence, he's a brilliant strategist, he's pure, dangerous, murderous … And he has a temper that can vaporize people. He's truly one of the strongest personalities ever..."

When TVLine questioned showrunner Scott Gimple on whether Orin is actually Negan, he replied: "I can neither confirm nor deny. It's not the worst guess in the world. It's difficult to get around your logic here."
