"Kaththi" is carrying huge expectations, thanks to the impressive teaser and hit songs. With the release of the trailer, the hype surrounding the project is likely to increase manifold.

The Vijay starrer is gearing up for a Diwali release on 22 October. The film has been facing some issues from a few Tamil groups who are opposing its release, claiming that its producers - Lyca Productions - have business links with relatives of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse. They had even filed a case but the judge gave a verdict, stating the court will not interfere in the issue as the censor board cleared the film.

Still, some groups are protesting against the film's release. Theatre owners' association met on Saturday to discuss the issue, and the final call will be taken on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the co-producers of "Kaththi" Ayngaran International have confirmed that the film will be a Diwali treat for the fans. "#KATHTHI is a special #Diwali treat for all!! No changes in movie release date," they tweeted on their official Twitter handle.

Advance booking for "Kaththi" have commenced in a few theatres and the worldwide reservation will commence from Sunday, 19 October. The film is expected to release in more than 1,500 screens across the world.

"Kaththi" is touted to be an action thriller with Vijay appearing in dual roles. Speaking about Vijay's role, director Murugadoss told Tamil magazine Kungumam, "In Kaththi, one Vijay is a common man and another Vijay is very special, you would not have seen him like this," reported Cinemalead.

The director is confident about getting positive feedback for "Kaththi." He has stated that the Vijay starrer will be remembered for another 10 years.

Samantha plays the female lead in the action entertainer, while Bollywood actor Neil Nithin Mukesh appears the main villain. Music composer Anirudh has worked on the soundtracks, while George C Williams has handled the cinematography.

"Kaththi" has fetched a clean "U" rating from the regional censor board. The film is eligible for getting entertainment tax exemption.

The Vijay starrer is likely to take grand openings on the first day of its release. Will it be able to create any records is something one needs to wait and watch.
