Viber challenges US Immigration restrictions: Offers free calls to countries placed under intense scrutinyViber

Viber, touted as a competitor to popular Instant Messenger WhatsApp, has now stated that its users in the US can make calls to geographical regions such as Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen. The USP of this development is that these countries figure amongst the ones on which stricter immigration rules have been imposed by the Donald Trump administration.

Now, as far as the latest development is concerned, Viber has stated that it would continue to connect people irrespective of geographical regions. "No matter who they are or where they're from," states Viber on its official website.

This means that users in the United States, and the above countries, can communicate with each other through landline/mobile phones for free. Also, it is nowhere mentioned on the official Viber website that there would be riders imposed on such communications.

"Those affected will now have one less barrier to cross when trying to reach their loved ones," adds Viber.

At this juncture, it is also worth noting that Viber has not announced a timeline for free calls , between the US and the above geographies. So it is assumed that this development is not timeline-specific as of now.

In related developments, popular Instant Messenger WhatsApp has received a new incremental update that lets users delete sent messages before these are read by recipients. Going by a new report, a new beta version incorporating this functionality would be released soon.

Therefore, it should do no harm for WhatsApp users (irrespective of platforms) to keep track of new beta releases of the app's versions. Going by the above newly surfaced report, it seems that the new beta version of the app would provide options to trash messages after being sent to recipients, before these get read by the intended person(s).

Also, a feature titled, 'autocorrect' solutions may also be introduced with the future incremental update to WhatsApp.
