Italian two wheeler maker Piaggio has reportedly confirmed that the company's new Vespa Elegante scooter will mark its India entry on 16 September. 

A new report of Rushlane says that the scooter will be launched in the country on 16 September. Vespa Elegante, a scooter based on the company's VX will become India's most expensive scooter once it is launched and will come with new and exciting features like split seat, a chrome grab rail and new front grille.

Under the hood, the Vespa Elegante will pack 125 cc 3-valve 4-stroke engine, which can pump a power f 10 PS and a peak torque of 10.6 Nm, mated to a CVT gearbox. The scooter will feature front disc brake and rear drum brake and is expected to fall in the price brackets of ₹80,000. In India, the new Vespa scooter will be available in two new colour options- Pearl White and Marrakech Brown beside the exiting colour schemes.

Currently, Vespa's Indian portfolio includes LX 125, VX 125 and S 125. The company, which is looking to expand its reach in the country, is also expected to bring its premium Vespa 946 to India in coming months. Vespa 946, the scooter, which was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, comes with 4-storke 125cc 3V monocylinder engine, LED headlamps and tail lamps with LCD. The engine can churn out a power of 11.7 hp at 8250 rpm and a peak torque of 10.3 Nm torque at 7000 rpm.

Vespa 946, the handcrafted scooter will be imported from Europe and will be brought to India as Completely Built Unit (CBU). It is said to have done with the homologation and will be positioned as a collector's edition. Flaunting classy design, Vespa 946 will feature ABS, traction control system, Anti Slip Regulator and disc brakes in front and rear.
