"The Vampire Diaries" is all set to return for season 6 in October this year and there are many things on the show, to be excited about.

Steve McQueen created fan frenzy when he revealed that he has read the two scripts. What added more to hopes was Ian Somerhalder's tweet about the premiere of upcoming season.

"So...Umm, you might want to Mark those calendars! #TVD season SIX premieres Thursday, October 2! #CWfallpremieres #TVDS6 Whoa, that was fast!" the actor who plays Damon on the show tweeted.

Top things that the fans must look forward to in the new season:

1. Stefan and Caroline are going to have a steamier relationship: Paul Wesley, who plays the character of Stefan in the Vampire themed series, recently revealed in an interview that things are going to take a romantic turn between his character and Caroline.

"They should get together and have a nice sexy time. The one thing we know pretty clearly is that Caroline, in her heart of hearts, is starting to accept she has feelings for Stefan. In fact, we cut a scene in the finale where that was even clearer. I think she's finally admitting it to her, losing him woke that up in her, the question is will Stefan reciprocate those feelings? That's what we'll have to explore in Season 6 and see where we go," Wesley told Just Jared Jr.

It is also being understood that a love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Carolina can be explored in season 6. The writers of the show have been building up a story between the three since the very beginning as per the reports.

"Elena loved Stefan. Elena's her best friend. Kind of a no-fly zone, which is why I think that if she has had any more-than-friend feelings she's pushed them away or convinced herself otherwise," said executive producer Caroline Dries in chitchat to Alloy Entertainment.

2. Damon may return as human: Since the death of Damon in the Mystic Falls it is being said that he would not be seen in the upcoming season. However, now the buzz is that he may return in human form like Petrova's doppelganger. This is just a speculation and as per "TVD" cast member Kayla Ewell, who portrayed the role of Matt's (Zach Roerig) sister Vicki, suggested in her interview that you never know what would happen in the "The Vampire Diaries".

"You can die or they can cancel the show at any moment. You just never know. And that's the thing about a supernatural show: things can happen. Anything can happen, which I think that's why the fans continue to watch after so many years and I think we have the best fans," she told Popsugar.

3. The season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" would have the time leap: The fans may get to see a time leap in the story of the main leads. There would be huge jump between season 5's finale and season 6 as per the reports.
