Upendra, who is basking in the success of "Uppi 2", has become the talk of the town in the last couple of days for his possible collaboration with Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi.

Of late, there have been reports that Upendra will direct Chiranjeevi's 150th movie. Now, the Sandalwood director-turned-actor has clarified about his teaming up with the megastar.

Upendra has denied the reports, even as the Real Star revealed about a lost opportunity to direct Chiranjeevi.

In a television interview, Upendra said that post the success of his blockbuster "Om", which was released in 1995, he was supposed to direct a movie starring Chiranjeevi. The project was supposed to be bankrolled by Ashwini Dutt.

Upendra had met Chiranjeevi around 10 times during the talks and the director had worked on the project for a year. Unfortunately, the movie did not happen and Uppi lost an opportunity to direct Chiranjeevi.

Nonetheless, the filmmaker claims that it will always be a dream to work with the megastar and the multifaceted personality wished that it will happen someday.

It may be recalled that Rajinikanth too has been asking Upendra to direct a movie for him since the "Om" days. But Upendra's acting commitments have kept him busy from planning anything big.

However, there is still hope that Upendra would come up with a big project. The buzz indicates the director will be concentrating on making commercial movies from now on and does not want to make psychological thrillers such as "A", "Upendra and now "Uppi 2".

Meanwhile, "Uppi 2" is doing good business at the Kannada box office.
