Two Xiaomi Mi 4C Variants Tipped to be Released this Month; Price Details Revealed Ahead of Launch: Report

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is reportedly planning to launch the rumoured Mi 4C in two variants later this month.

Gadget blog WCCF Tech, citing a Weibo user in China, has claimed that Xiaomi Mi 4C will come in two models based on RAM-storage capacity combo -- one will have 2GB RAM/16GB and another will boast 3GB RAM/32GB memory.

In a related development, Chinese e-commerce site Oppomart has listed the Xiaomi Mi 4C on its site revealing the complete specifications details of the device.

As per the listing, Xiaomi Mi 4C sports a 5.0-inch full HD Sharp/JDI display and comes with Android 5.1 based MIUI v7.0 OS backed by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 13mp camera on the rear-side, a 5mp snapper on the front, 4G-LTE network support and a 3080 mAh.

The e-retailer says that the 2GB RAM/16GB variant will cost $229 (€206/₹15,272), but there is no official word on 3GB RAM/32GB model's price. Word on the street is that the top-end model might be priced $50-$75 more than that of the base variant.

All the details are in line with leaked Xiaomi Mi 4C's retail box reported last week. The device is expected to debut on 24 September and hit stores on 3 October in China.

It has come to light that Xiaomi will be selling only 100,000 units of each variant, so that the company's popular budget phablet Redmi Note 2 sales doesn't get canabalised by the Mi 4C series. If it is true, then this is a smart move by Xiaomi. The company instead can focus on rolling out the new Mi 4C in India as there are serious doubts over the Redmi Note 2's arrival due to Ericsson's patent issue.
