The Tamil Nadu HSC Class 12 (Plus 2) results were announced on Thursday, 7 May, at 10 pm. More than eight lakh students had appeared for the examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Board of Higher Secondary Education.

The early reports state that the total pass percentage stands at 90.06 percent. Last year, it was 88.01 percent and in 2012, it was 86.07 percent. The passing percentage of girls is higher, with 93.04 percent. In the last few years, the passing percentage of girls have seen marginal rise.

Oneindia Tamil reports that Sreesha CS of Chennai Velammal Matric Higher Secondary School and Mahalakshmi of DAV Girls Senior Secondary School from Gopalapuram have topped by scoring 1194/1200. While Sreesha's first language is French, Mahalakshmi has taken Sanskrit as her first language.

Parvathi and Priya from Coimbatore have shared the next place with 1193 marks. They are followed by Rathan Sudhakar and Radhesh, who have got 1192 marks. It has to be noted that only those who opted for Tamil as their first language are considered for the official rank list.

Hence, J Pavithra and LB Nivetha from Vikas Vidyalaya Matric Higher Secondary School and Sri Sowdeswari Vidyalaya Matric Higher Secondary School, who have scored 1192, have become the first rank holders as they have taken Tamil as the first language.

The 2015 plus two exam results will be made available on the Tamil Nadu State Board of Examinations website, tnresults, where students need to enter their Board exam Roll Number and Date of Birth to check the scores.
