Star Pravah to Distribute Mahesh Manjrekar's 'Kokanastha'

Star Pravah, the Marathi entertainment channel, last month announced that it's taking up film distribution and marketing with Mahesh Manjrekar's directorial film, "Kokanastha".

The Star Pravah partnership with actor director Mahesh Manjrekar marks the beginning of a new era in the Marathi Film Industry.

"Star Pravah has always been at the forefront of providing fresh and innovative content to its audiences. Our foray into film distribution and marketing helps us increase our entertainment offering to our audiences in Maharashtra," said Shrabani Deodhar, Creative Director - Star Pravah.

The partnership was announced during the music launch of the Marathi film "Kokanastha" on 30 April.    

"Kokanastha" is the story of Ramchandra Govind Gokhale, a retired middle class person whose calm and peaceful life is thrown into turmoil by an unexpected turn of events and his spirited fight for justice in the face of next-to-impossible conditions. Sachin Khedekar, who is best known for his role in the bi-lingual film, "Astitva", plays the lead role. The film also features Sonali Kulkarni, Upendra Limaye and newcomers Vaidehi Parshurami and Rohan Talwalkar.

"Kokanastha personifies the never-say-die spirit of every Maharashtrian. The film delivers a strong message that their peaceful demeanour is because of intellectual superiority and should not be mistaken for fear or cowardice. Star Pravah, by the virtue of being the leader amongst Marathi entertainment channels in Maharashtra will prove to be a strong distribution and marketing partner for the film," Manjrekar said at the event.

Akshay Hariharan, son of Hariharan, is making his debut as a music director with the film.

Star Pravah kicked-off the film's promotion with a unique teaser campaign with Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan speaking about the tagline of the film, 'Tath Kana Haach Bana'.

The film will hit the screens on 10 May.
