Mahesh Babu starrer "Srimanthudu" has made great business at the world box office in its first week. The movie has crossed the Rs.100-crore mark in seven days.

In a press release, Jyoti Deshpande, group CEO and MD of the film production and distribution of Eros, said, "The second quarter has been very strong indeed. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has done Rs. 500 crore and counting. We also released "Srimanthudu", which has already crossed Rs. 100 crore. It is the second highest Telugu film grosser after "Baahubali".

However, leading trade tracker Andhra Box Office has different figures and claims that "Srimanthudu" is still away from the elite Rs.100-crore mark.

According to Andhra Box Office, "Srimanthudu" has earned Rs. 86.2 crore in seven days. Nonetheless, it has now become the biggest hit in the Telugu film industry after "Baahubali".

The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana centres are the major contributors for "Srimanthudu" success. It has earned Rs. 54.2 crore (Rs. 49.4 crore net) in the first week in its home territory. The film has also performed well in Karnataka, where it has raked in Rs. 8.6 crore (Rs.7.2 crore net).

From the remaining part of India, including Tamil Nadu, "Srimanthudu" has earned Rs. 4 crore (Rs. 3.3 crore net). The flick has made a business of Rs. 66.8 crore (Rs. 59.9 crore net) at the Indian box office.

"Srimanthudu" has raked in about Rs. 19 crore from the rest of the world to end its first week gross at Rs. 86.2 crore. In the first week alone, it had raked in Rs. 60.65 crore from two languages (Tamil+Telugu).

The contrasting reports have created confusions in the minds of Tollywood fans, whether the movie has collected Rs. 100 crore or is yet to reach the mark. Nonetheless, the business made by the Mahesh Babu is considered as a remarkable achievement as making so much of business in limited market is not an easy task for a South Indian film.

Moreover, the film was released even before the "Baahubali" fever came to an end and the fans' expectations were obviously very high.

The film has been directed by Koratala Siva and it features Shruti Haasan in the female lead role. Jagapathi Babu, Sukanya, Rajendra Prasad and others are also part of the cast.
