Putting an end to weeks of speculations, Sony pulled the wraps off two new camera-centric smartphones Xperia M5 and C5 Ultra on on Monday, 3 August.

"We are pleased to present two new products that highlight Sony's advances in camera technology," said Tony McNulty, Vice-President of Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications.

"We understand that camera capabilities are important to smartphone users, so we ensured that Sony's existing camera brilliance was once again surpassed in the new Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 without compromising on other features across design and performance," he added.

Sony Xperia M5:

The new Xperia M5 boasts a 21.5mp Exmore RS camera backed by the company's latest proprietary Sony IMX230 CMOS sensor, which enables users to get 5x zoom with no perceptible loss in quality. It also features hybrid autofocus, f/2.2 aperture and fast autofocus (0.2 seconds), and 4K video recording capability. On the front, it comes packed with a 13mp snapper with auto-focus.

Another notable attribute is that it comes with (Ingress Protection) IP65/IP68 water-and-dust resistant certifications. This means users can take Xperia M5 for a dip in a swimming pool. It can stay up to one meter (five feet) underwater for close to 30 minutes.

It sports 5.0-inch full HD display and is powered by a 2.0GHZ MediaTek Helio X10 processor, IMG Rogue G6200 graphics engine, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage, 2600 mAh battery that is capable of running the phone for close to two days.

Sony Xperia C5 Ultra:

Like all previous Xperia C series models, the new 6.0-inch Xperia C5 Ultra is pro-selfie camera smartphone. It boasts of 13mp front camera with dedicated LED selfie-flash. It also features 22 mm wide-angle lens with an 88 degree field of view, auto-focus, 4X digital zoom, full HD video recording, image stabiliser, Auto Scene Recognition, red-eye reduction and many more.

And on the rear-side, it comes packed with 13mp camera with same photography experience enhancing features.

Under the hood, it comes packed with 1.7GHz MediaTek Octa-core processor, 2GB RAM ,16GB storage, 2930 mAh battery and with LED flash on both front and back side.

Sony Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 release details:

The company has confirmed that both Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 will be released in select emerging markets around mid-August. However, the details regarding the price are still under wraps. Stay tuned for more updates.
