Snapchat's extended outage affected almost half of its entire user base, resulting in thousands of unhappy users around the world.

Users have been exposed to several problems such as being unable to share snaps and even login to the app to use the service.

The Snapchat support team confirmed the outage tied to Google's App Engine and said a fix is underway. After elongated wait, Snapchat is finally working for most users.

In a brief tweet, Snapchat support team said, "most people experiencing loading issues are now able to use the app. Please let us know if you are still having issues."

Several users shared their Snapchat flicks on Twitter to confirm that the app is working again. With more than 100 million users, most of whom are 24 or younger, Snapchat's hours-long outage was seen with great disappointment. But when the ephemeral messaging app started working, users' excitement was seen in flurry of joyous tweets.

According to DownDetector website, reports about Snapchat's outage have significantly dropped and the live map shows the affected areas of outage are recovering quickly. It is only a matter of time before Snapchat is back online.
