Defending Wimbledon women's singles champion Serena Williams takes on Christina McHale in her second round Wimbledon 2016 match on Friday. The American veteran had a comfortable sailing into the round after a straight sets 6-2, 6-4 win over Amra Sadikovic in the previous round.
McHale, on her part, got past Daniela Hantuchova, also in straight sets, in the first round.
Serena, ranked No 1 in the women's singles rankings, is vying for her seventh Wimbledon title, while McHale, ten years younger to the American veteran and ranked 65 in the world, is hoping to cause a major update.
The duo have faced thrice in the past and Serena overpowered McHale on two occasions while the other match turned out to be a no-contest.
"It was a good start for me. I felt like it was a solid start to go in the right direction, so, it was great," said Serena after her first round win. "This is me - I'm always shouting at myself, always pushing myself. It's absolutely nothing different. It's great to be back at Wimbledon. Mom was in the Royal Box and that was really nice," she added to BBC Sport.
McHale, 24, meanwhile, didn't go past the second round in Wimbledon last year and this time too, it seems her entry in the third round of Wimbledon 2016 doesn't look likely, unless there is a major shock in the offing.
