The wait for Railway Recruitment Board's (RRB) Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) exam 2016 results has finally come to an end with the board having declared the result for Thiruvananthapuram region.

The RRB NTPC results 2016 for Thiruvananthapuram region came more than six months after the examination was conducted. The board is yet to declare the results of other regions, but it is expected to happen in the next few days, at least before the end of this month.

Candidates in Thiruvananthapuram region can check RRB NTPC results 2016 on rrbthiruvananthapuram.gov.in. As many as 7807 aspirants have passed the first stage examination. The qualified candidates have to appear for the mains or second stage examination expected to be held in December (date not fixed).

The RRB NTPC results 2016 can be checked on the Indian Railways official website indianrailways.gov.in and 21 official RRB zone and regional sites when it is declared.

Anil Kumar Saxena, Additional Director General (PR), Railways Board, stirred up curiosity among the candidates by claiming that the NTPC preliminary (1st stage) examination results would be declared in the first fortnight of October, but it didn't happen.

A total of 93 lakh candidates applied for the RRB NTPC 2016 examination but only 57 lakh wrote the exams that were held between March 3 and May 6 this year. As many as 2,73,780 candidates will be qualified for the mains examination and 18,252 will be finally recruited for several posts -- Commercial Apprentice (CA) - 703, Traffic Apprentice (TA) - 1645, Enquiry-cum-Reservation Clerk (ECRC) - 127, Goods Guard - 7591, Senior Clerk-cum-Typist - 869, Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist (JAA) - 1205, Assistant Station Master (ASM) - 5942, Traffic Assistant – 166, and Senior Time Keeper – 4.
