If there is a time for the millions of "Game of Thrones" fans all over the world to rejoice, it is now, as it is being officially announced that a new book relating to the series will be released on 26 October. The book, which is set in the same land as that of the "Song of Ice and Fire" series, however, is not the one everyone has been tirelessly anticipating for.

"The Winds of Winter" was originally intended to be the final volume in the 'Ice and Fire' series on which "Game of Thrones" is based. But it seems like not only will there be a seventh installment known as "A Dream of Spring" before the series finale, but also a historic documentation to better understand the world of dragons and white walkers.

"The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones", which has been penned by the brilliant creator of "Game of Thrones" himself along with Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson, is a lavishly illustrated comprehensive history of the Seven Kingdoms, 92nd Street Y reported.

Martin made the official announcement, complete with a photograph of the said book, on 28 July.

The book promises to enlighten fans with vividly constructed accounts of pivotal conflicts, monumental rivalries, and audacious rebellions that span from the Dawn Age all the way up to the death of the Mad King, leading to the plot in "A Song of Ice and Fire". This book is the result of a collaboration of many years in the making. Garcia Jr. And Antonsson, the co-founders of the universally respected Game of Thrones fan site, Westeros.org, may perhaps be the only two people who know the world as well as the creator Martin.

"The World of Fire and Ice" is said to be a collection of all the accumulated knowledge, scholarly speculations and passed on folktales of maesters and septons, maegi and singers. It chronicles everything from the "Coming of the First Men to the arrival of Aegon the Conqueror; from Aegon's establishment of the Iron Throne to Robert's Rebellion and the fall of the Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen, which has set into motion the "present-day" struggles of the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons and Targaryens," according to 92nd Street Y.

While "World of Fire and Ice" is a great distraction till "The Winds of Winter" release, anytime from early to mid 2015, a few fans, like Charlie Killoran, are hoping that the newest addition to the "Game of Thrones Universe" is an elaborate prank played by Martin on his fans.

Killoran posted on Twitter, 'I'm secretly hoping that "The World of Ice & Fire" book coming out in October is really "The Winds of Winter" and we're all being punked."

While the book can be pre-ordered from Barnes and Noble, for $125, you can attend the promotional event at New York's Kaufmann Concert Hall with Martin and co-authors García, Jr., and Antonsso, to get a signed copy of the book.
