After making an exit from the quarterfinals of the French Open, Rohan Bopanna had to wait for Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig to lose in the semifinals, to secure a direct entry into the men's doubles event in Rio Olympics 2016. Bopanna has now returned to top-10 in the ATP rankings for doubles.

Bopanna currently occupies the 10th spot in the rankings, making him an automatic choice for qualificaion to Rio. The new rankings were released on Monday. Being in the top-10 list, Bopanna not only secured a place in the Rio Olympics but he will also have the option of choosing his partner for the men's doubles event.

Leander Paes, who recently won the mixed doubles title with Martina Hingis in the French Open, gained five spots in the rankings. The veteran Indian tennis star is ranked 46th. Paes also was knocked out in the quarterfinals in the men's doubles event.

Bopanna and Paes are well ahead of the other Indian players in the doubles category. Purva Raja (103), Divij Sharan (114), Saketh Myneni (125), Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (134), Yuki Bhambri (147) and Mahesh Bhupathi (164) are the ones who are the next set of Indian tennis players on the ATP rankings list.

Meanwhile, Sania Mirza continued to be at the top of the women's doubles rankings chart with her partner Martina Hingis. The next Indian woman tennis player on the list is Prarthna Thombare (209).
