A fresh batch of spy shots of the Kwid 1.0 litre with AMT has emerged online, indicating the model could arrive soon along with the Kwid 1.0 litre. It is probably for the time first the AMT variant of the Kwid has been spied testing on the Indian roads. Renault had showcased both 1.0 litre engine and AMT transmission avatar of the Kwid at the Auto Expo 2016 in February.

Clicked by Anything on wheels, the latest spy shots show a silver coloured Kwid undergoing testing in Chennai. The test mule is seen without any hint of camouflage and what helped to differentiate the model from the current Kwid in the market is the 'Easy-R' AMT badge at the bottom right on the tail gate.

Although there is still no clarity about the launch of this model in India, previous reports had said that the Kwid 1.0 litre would make its market debut in June this year and will be followed by Kwid 1.0 litre AMT during the festive season. It was also being reported that both the variants would be launched in June.

The Kwid 1.0 litre would be powered by a 1,000cc petrol unit that is expected to develop over 65bhp mated to five-speed manual transmission. The AMT variant will also get the same engine, but with AMT box. Other changes expected in the new 1.0 litre variant of the Kwid are the addition of the safety features, such as Dual SRS airbags and ABS.

Renault is currently offering an optional single airbag only in the top-end RxT variant of the Kwid. Renault Kwid 1.0 litre AMT would be pitted against Maruti Alto K10 AMT and is expected to get a price tag starting at Rs. 3.5 lakh.
