Reliance launched a new smartphone under its budget LYF series, called the LYF Water 5, on Friday, offering premium-grade specifications at an affordable price point. The LYF Water 5 smartphone is priced at Rs. 11,699 and available exclusively on Amazon India.

Reliance LYF Water 5 has several similarities with the existing line of smartphones in the LYF series. The new handset comes with dual-SIM support, and VoLTE and 4G LTE compatibility, expanding the presence of 4G connectivity across India, which the company is planning to boost with its Jio 4G mobile broadband service later this year.

With the launch of the LYF Water 5 smartphone, the company has a total of six smartphones in its product portfolio on its official website, including the Wind 6, Earth 1, Water 1, Water 2 and Flame 1. In March, three new successors, including Flame 2, Wind 4 and Water 7, were listed on the company's official site, but details about their availability are still unknown.

The all-new LYF Water 5 is the cheapest of the Water-series smartphones, and has a slightly different look. In terms of specifications, the LYF Water 5 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display with a Dragontrail glass cover, a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-snapper.

Reliance LYF Water 5 is powered by a 1.2GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage without microSD card support. The handset packs a 2,920mAh battery, which is said to provide up to 15 hours of talktime.

With these specifications and the price tag, LYF Water 5 competes against some of the industry's popular choices such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Lenovo Vibe K4 Note, LeEco Le 1s and Le 1s Eco and the recently-launched Coolpad Note 3 Plus.

Reliance LYF smartphones are easily available through offline channels. In a recent survey by Counterpoint Research, Reliance LYF was ranked India's fifth-largest smartphone company in the first quarter of this year with a 7 percent market share.
