Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reportedly quite keen to cast his "Ramleela" star in "Bajirao Mastani too."

As reported earlier, the "Gunday" actor who was one of the probable names doing rounds for the male lead in director Bhansali's magnum opus project, has now been confirmed by Singh's spokesperson.

"He is in advance talks for the film. Till things are finalised we cannot say anything," Singh's spokesperson told PTI.

While Singh's name is under consideration for the part, earlier reports have stated that the film's leading lady has already been signed as Deepika Padukone.

Bhansali is said to have been quite impressed with Deepika's spectacular performance in "Ramleela" and offered the actress his dream project which had long been shelved.

The "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" director had earlier planned on making the film with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, but the project failed to take off due to bitter issues.

Earlier reports hinted that the director had approached Shahrukh Khan for the project, but nothing came out of the news.

Recently, however, Ajay Devgan and Hrithik Roshan's names were also in news along with Singh's for being approached for the period drama.

As of now, it remains to be seen whether Singh signs the project. If he give the project a green signal, this will be his second major film after Zoya Akhtar's "Dil Dhadakne Do."

Singh's signing in the project will also mean his pairing up with alleged girlfriend Deepika Padukone for the second time onscreen.

"Bajirao Mastani" is based on the period love story of Maratha General Bajirao and his beautiful brave wife Mastani, who faced the wrath of the society for their differed religious background.

The film is expected to start rolling next year.
