Though the soon-to-be new Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is yet to announce a formal date for taking the oath of office, it is being speculated that superstar Rajinikanth has been extended an invite to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier last month, Modi, who was on a visit to Coimbatore, had met Rajinikanth at his residence and two had indulged in a tete-a-tete. Rajinikanth revealed that the meeting was non-political but did compliment Modi and stated the BJP leader is an able administrator.

"Everyone knows that he (Modi) is a strong leader and able administrator. He is my well wisher and I am his well wisher. I wish him all the best to his future. I pray to God. By God's grace whatever he thinks should happen,'' Rajinikanth had told the press.

On Friday, after BJP's landslide win, Rajinikanth - who has a massive fan following especially in the South Indian states - congratulated Modi. "Hearty Congratulations dear @narendramodi Ji on your historic win. Best wishes," he tweeted.

Several Tamil dailies have now reported that Rajinikanth and fellow Tamil actor Vijay have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Modi.

It must be recalled that even Vijay had personally met Modi during his Tamil Nadu visit.

As per reports, Modi may swear-in as the 15th Prime Minister of India on 21 May. It is also being reported that the ceremony will coincide with the death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi.
