A woman who had accused Rajasthan MLA Udai Lal Anjana of sexually exploiting her has sought for a CBI probe into the matter and has reportedly handed a letter to the investigation officer.

The victim said that she was in a relationship with Anjana since 1988 and the Congress MLA from Nimahera in Chittor sexually assaulted her under the pretext of marriage. She also revealed that she had undergone several abortions during the period.

The case has been booked under section 376 (rape), 313 (to force abortion against the will of woman), 315 (to kill a newborn), 370 (illegal confinement), 384 (threatening life) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

The case that was being handled by the CID of state police has been transferred to the CID crime branch as the allegation involves an MLA.

Anjana however has denied all the allegations against him and claimed that the woman has made similar allegations 13 years ago. He also said that various agencies after investigation have confirmed that all the claims were fraudulent.

The current incident follows close on the heels of another shocking incident where former Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Babulal Nagar was forced to resign over rape allegations.
