Even as several celebrities like Rishi Kapoor have been making fun of controversial self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa on social media, filmmaker Subhash Ghai has defended her saying he is a true devotee.

Radhe Maa has been in the news ever since her "obscene" pictures surfaced on social media. Although she has been booked under the Dowry Prohibition Act, Subhash Ghai claims her to be "childish". He also stated that Radhe Maa treats him and his wife as her parents and they never witnessed any indecency on her part.

"Yes, being devotes of Mata Vaishno Devi, me and my wife Mukta have been visiting Radhe Maa to take her blessings since the last year at the Mata Ki Chowki at Borivali Bhavan held by her old devotees. She had been very affectionate to both of us and treats us like her parents. We have never experienced any such kind of indecent act or atmosphere which is being talked about in the society today," India Today quoted Subhash Ghai as saying.

"We also came to know while meeting her that she is a sensitive married woman with two sons who are well settled and leads a normal social life as any independent woman and in her Devi avatar she loves bhajans and dances at times on those bhajans in front of her devotees and want devotees to treat her like a child as they call her as 'Gudiya Devi Ma'", added Ghai.

He further said, "We feel devotees believe in her and her blessing's powers strongly but surely we also felt that she could be misunderstood by her childish and contrasting life in public. I hope she clarifies herself on this controversy soon."

Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor -- who is known for his witty take on social issues -- expressed his views on the Radhe Maa controversy via Twitter.
