A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.9 struck central Nepal on Saturday morning at around 11.26 am (IST), causing damages to buildings.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was the city of Pokhara in Nepal. Tremors were also felt in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and North East region, which borders Nepal.

Damages to property, including buildings and temples, have been reported in India and Nepal.

"We are working to reach out to those affected, both at home and in Nepal. The PM has also spoken to Sikkim CM Pawan Chamling over the earthquake," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
