The first look poster of Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh starrer "Gopala Gopala" is expected to be released on 16 August, on the special occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.
"Gopala Gopala" is a remake of the critically-acclaimed Hindi film "Oh My God," starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. The Telugu version will have Kalyan reprising Kumar's role of Lord Krishna from the original.
Apparently, the makers are planning to release the first look poster of "Gopala Gopala" on the eve of Krishna Janmashtami.
Directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasany (Dolly), "Gopala Gopala" has Shriya Saran playing the female lead opposite Venakatesh. The film also has Mithun Chakraborty, Posani Krishna Murali, Raghu Babu, Vennela Kishore and Ranganath in supporting roles.
The satirical drama was launched in June and the shooting is progressing well. The film is expected to hit the screens during Sankranti next year.
The expectations are huge for "Gopala Gopala" as it stars Kalyan and Venkatesh in prominent roles. Reports suggest that Kalyan's role will be just for 25 minutes in the film. There have been buzz that the actor has made some changes to the film's script as well as to his character. However, "Gopala Gopala" director has denied any such rumours.
"There have been no changes in the script and Pawan has never asked for it to be changed. His character will be on-screen for a duration of 25 minutes as in the original movie, played by Akshay Kumar," the director was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
Kalyan was last seen in 2013-blockbuster flick "Attarintiki Dareidi." Post the success of the film, the actor had committed two other films – "Gabbar Singh 2" and "Gopala Gopala."
"Gabbar Singh 2," the much-awaited sequel to the 2012-blockbuster "Gabbar Singh," was launched with much fanfare last year, but the shooting did not commence as Kalyan joined politics by launching his Jana Sena party and was busy with his political commitments during the 2014 elections.
With elections being over, the actor turned politician has shifted his focus back on films. While the actor has commenced shooting for "Gopala Gopala," it is yet to be known as to when he will begin working on "Gabbar Singh 2."
The buzz is that the makers are planning to start the film's shooting by August end or in September, reported The Times of India. The makers are yet to announce the female lead opposite the power star.
