Malayalam megastar Mammootty's "Pathemari", which was scheduled to be released on Thursday, has been postponed due to unknown reasons.
When contacted, trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai said that the release of the Mammootty starrer has been postponed to a later date in October.
Meanwhile, the film missed the Oscar nomination by a whisker to Marathi film "Court". It is understood that during the last round of the nomination race, the Marathi film outweighed the Mammootty starrer.
The other Indian films in the race were "Masaan", "Margarita with a Straw" and "Kaaka Muttai".
"Kerala media r reporting that @mammukka's #Pathemari (yet 2 b released) just missed out on being jury's choice 4 the Oscar race by a whisker," Sreedhar Pillai tweeted on Wednesday.
While actor-director Amol Palekar is the jury chairman, director K Madhu, cinematographer Ramachandra Babu and director Biju are the Keralites in the jury.
It has to be noted that Oscar winner Resul Pookutty has handled the sound recording of "Pathemari" and he recently tweeted about his experience about working with the crew members of the film.
