Panasonic India has teased a new smartphone dubbed Panasonic P81 on the company's official Facebook page, hinting that the handset will hit the market in May.

Although the teaser image released by Panasonic does not reveal the specifications of the upcoming smatphone, it is understood from the poster that the handset will come with swappable back panels. The poster also suggests that the Panasonic P81 will come preloaded with apps such as Evernote, Readwhere and Hungama in May. However, the exact launch details of the smartphone are unknown and we expect that Panasonic might divulge the details in coming days.

Panasonic currently retails, Panasonic P11, Panasonic P31, Panasonic P51, Panasonic T11, Panasonic T21 and Panasonic T31 in India.The P31 smartphone of Panasonic reached Indian market recently with a price tag of ₹11,990.

The phone sports five-inch FWVGA (854x480p) screen and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. It packs 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with microSD card. It runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system and comes equipped with 8.0-megapixel autofocus rear camera with full HD recording and a VGA front-facing camera.

In terms of the connectivity features, the new Panasonic P31 supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS and is backed by 2,000mAh battery, which claims up to 9 hours of talktime on 3G and up to 600 hours in standby mode. Other features of the P31 include FM with RDS, GPS, G-Sensor, Light sensor, Proximity sensor and E-compass.

Beside smartphones, Panasonic's  portfolio in the country also includes features phones. The company recently launched two new handsets- the EZ240 and EZ180 with the price tags of ₹1,790 and ₹1,350, respectively.
