Sam Heughan recently revealed what he thought about his sex scenes with Caitriona Balfe in Starz's hit television drama "Outlander". The actor said that indulging in the bedroom romp in front of the camera is a "challenging" and a "difficult" task.

"We want to get them right. We don't want to do some ... soft porn, smut or something. We want it to further the relationship. We want it to be sexy, as well. We want to not just show a lot of flesh, we want it to be sensual and intimate," he said in his interview with K.L. Connie Wang of ReallifewithJane.

The actor also gushed about his co-star Balfe and said that she is a "wonderful" and "great" girl. When asked about his camaraderie with the actress, Heughan said that they do have arguments, but he is lucky to work with her.

The 34-year-old Scottish hunk also dropped major hints about the plotline of the upcoming episodes in Season 1. According to him, the first episode of the second half of Season one will begin with his character, Jamie Fraser's perspective.

"It starts off very, very strong. Honestly, it gets more and more intense and more and more dark. You see what he (Fraser) went through to rescue Claire Randall (Balfe) from Black Jack. Their relationship is ultimately tested and challenged throughout the whole of next several episodes. It really goes to some very dark places. They come to head a lot of the time. They're constantly challenging each other," he added.

Randall and Fraser will try to reignite the passion in their relationship, but will face numerous challenges.

"Outlander" is based on novels by Diana Gabaldon and has been created by Ronald D. Moore. It narrates the story of a nurse, named Randall, who gets transported back in time and falls in love with a highland warrior, Fraser.

"Outlander" will return to the television screens in April 2015.
