OnePlus buyback programme lets you exchange old phones for OnePlus 2, X, One; discounts up to Rs 16,000OnePlus

OnePlus has launched a new exchange programme in India for smartphone shoppers. The new buyback scheme, which is in partnership with ReGlobe, started on Friday and offers up to Rs. 16,000 off on purchase of a new OnePlus 2, OnePlus X or OnePlus One smartphone upon

Buyers can choose from any model of OnePlus smartphones available on Amazon India while trading in their old device. The exchange value will be determined based on the make, model and the condition of the old handset.

"The summer season is in full swing, and we feel that our fans and consumers alike need to be treated to something refreshing," the company wrote in a post on its official forum. "Under this scheme, consumers can avail up to Rs. 16,000 off on exchange of their older smartphones."

OnePlus has not mentioned any end date for the exchange offer, but it is not expected to last long. International Business Times, India has reached out to OnePlus for an update on this.

In the exchange process, ReGlobe is responsible for deciding the exchange price of the old smartphone, and OnePlus and Amazon India have no involvement in the issue. Buyers must first place an order for a new OnePlus device and proceed to exchange their old device and get instant value of the phone by entering accurate information.

The ReGlobe exchange site requires customers to enter their pin code first and then search for the make and model of the device. Customers must then enter the details of the handset's condition, like if the handset turns on or not, any physical damages to the device, and if there are functionality issues. Most importantly, customers must enter the Amazon Order ID before proceeding as it will reduce the exchange value of the old phone from the price of the new OnePlus smartphone.

ReGlobe will assess the accuracy of the information provided by the customer by physically checking the device from the set location at any preferred time. If the handset checks out, instant cash back will be offered, but any inaccuracies will lead to a change in the quoted price.

"Your Amazon Order ID will be validated to check for a OnePlus Device purchase," ReGlobe notes in its terms and conditions page. "Upon inspection, if your smartphone's condition is in-line with what was mentioned while taking the quote, your smartphone will be taken and you would be handed over the cash."

OnePlus has partnered with ReGlobe in the past, offering an upgrade option to customers by exchanging old devices. The latest exchange programme comes ahead of the OnePlus 3 launch, which is scheduled for the second quarter of this year. The move also suggests OnePlus is making space for new stock by clearing old ones, a common practice followed by several OEMs around the world.
