Over the past week, there has been some movement of information on Nintendo's mysterious new console, Nintendo NX. Though there has not been much about the upcoming console to go by, Nintendo's new president Tatsumi Kimishima had something to say about the new console that has been billed to be a "hybrid" and "home console".

In an interview with Japanese publication Sankei West, Kimishima briefly talked about Nintendo NX. He was speaking about the success of Splatoon and amiibo in the recent months.

Kimishima revealed the status of the console as being "steadily in development". He also said there is no intention to "jump on the audience" while promising "new experience" that will be "different from the current Wii U and 3DS" consoles. He added that the NX is a "dedicated machine".

These statements point to the fact that the NX might be part of the Wii U and 3DS ecosystem. His statements also reveals that amiibo will also be part of the future strategy of the company, Gamepur pointed out.

Previously, Kimishima had revealed in a message to shareholders and investors that the NX was a "brand new concept" and a new "gaming platform".

One thing is clear: The year 2016 will hear more of this new console from Nintendo, though it is not likely to drop this year.
