Nintendo released new system update 10.4.0-29 on 18 January, following the maintenance work of Nintendo Network.
Nintendo noted on its official website, "Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience," this was the only description of the changes that came with the new system update. It only adds stability updates similar to the one added last time too.
It has been quite some time since Nintendo added some new content that fans would love. One such update was released only in March 2015. The update had added Home Menu layout and some new additions to Theme Shop.
We will have to see if Nintendo will add something before it drops Nintendo NX, the "dedicated device" confirmed to be in "development". But rumours indicate that this new console could be hybrid home and portable device.
Meanwhile, Daily Star had quoted a Nintendo spokeswoman as saying the players can expect some free games for Nintendo 3DS in the new year.
"Nintendo is kicking off the New Year by reminding owners of Nintendo 3DS family systems – which includes Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL – that in total there are more than 100 demos and games to start free of charge through Nintendo eShop, the online app store built into Nintendo 3DS family systems," said Nintendo spokeswoman.
