"Mr X" has collected ₹13.99 crore net at the Indian box office in the first weekend, but has failed to beat the record of Emraan Hashmi's previous releases such as "Raaz 3" and "Jannat 2".

Despite a good hype and promotion, "Mr X" opened to an average response in the domestic market in the morning show. The occupancy of the film was lower than last week's release "Ek Paheli Leela". The movie showed a little growth in the afternoon and evening shows.

"Mr X" collected ₹4.50 crore net at the Indian box office on the first day. Trade experts predicted that the movie would show decent growth on Saturday, but its business slipped by 10% on the second day. The Emraan Hashmi starrer raked in ₹4.39 crore net in the domestic market on the day.

The Vikram Bhatt-directed film showed improvements on Sunday, but its growth was not upto the mark. On its third day, "Mr X" collected ₹5.10 crore net at the Indian box office, taking its first weekend collection to ₹13.99 crore net. But it has failed to beat the records of Emraan's previous releases "Murder 2" (₹22.75 crore), "Jannat 2" (₹23.50 crore), "The Dirty Picture" (₹32.25 crore) and "Raaz 3" (₹35.75).

"Mr X" has smashed the records of Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush's "Shamitabh" and Anushka Sharma's "NH10", which have collected ₹13.25 crore and ₹13.30 crore, respectively at the domestic box office in their opening weekend. The film has landed in the eighth place in the list of highest grosser Bollywood films in the opening weekend in 2015.
