In a few days, one among 117 contestants will be crowned Miss World on an evening that's resplendent, glamorous and not to mention, daunting for many of the participants. The 65th Miss World finals will take place in Sanya, China, a tropical city located on Hainan Island on South China Cost.

For the Miss World 2015 contestants, their stay at a city lined with natural beaches and enveloped in a landscape that boasts of greenery includes plenty of stressful activities as well. The preliminary events began in November 2015, and since then contestants from Venezuela, Argentina, Turkey, Spain and other countries have taken part in several competitions to prove their talent and fitness, among other attributes.

The favourite contestants are Aditi Arya (India), Jessica Ngoua Nseme (Cameroon), María Camila Marañón Solorzano (Equador), Hinarere Taputu (France), Valerie Abou Chacra (Lebanon), Hillarie Parungao (Philippines), Sofia Nikitchuk (Russia), Thanyachanok Moonninta (Thailand), Anyela Galante Salerno (Venezuela) and Trần Ngọc Lan Khuê (Vietnam). 

So far, the top 10 designer gowns have been announced and this includes names of designers such as Carmen Line from Bosnia & Herzegovina; Olga Blanc from Brazil;Jessica Jordan from Guadeloupe; Monisha Jaising from India, Windy Chandra Couture from Indonesia; Erasmo Fiorentino from Italy; Tserenlkhagva Khuyag-Ochi from Mongolia; José Karlo from Puerto Rico and Ly Qui Khanh from Vietnam, reported Yahoo.

The judges for this year's finals include Julia Morley, President of the Miss World Organisation; Mike Dixon, musical director for Miss World and three other past winners including Ivian Sarcos from Venezuela (Miss World 2011), Zhang Zilin (Miss World 2007), and Yu Wenxia (Miss World 2012).

In addition to this, the final event will be hosted by Tim Vincent, Former Miss World winner Megan Young and Angela Chow, a Taiwanese-Canadian Actress and Host.

The Miss World pageant, which was first held in 1951 with 26 contestants, has indeed come a long way. Today, it is the oldest oldest surviving beauty pageant and for many, it's a chance to win the prestigious crown and engage with people and cultures so varied and distinct.

The winner of Miss World 2015 will stay in London for a year, and travel the world to represent the Miss World Organisation and it's many causes.

The Miss World Finals will be held at the Beauty Crown Hotel Complex in Sanya, China on Saturday, 19 December at 7.30am EDT.
