Micromax is hosting a grand event themed "Guts to Change" in Gurgaon, where it has made a series of announcements it expects will revamp the brand in both devices and services sectors. Part of the announcements Wednesday is the launch of new flagship devices — the Canvas 6 and the Canvas 6 Pro — in India.

Micromax's new Canvas devices are among the 20 new smart products, including LED TVs and tablets, which the company announced during its event. Micromax Canvas 6 sets a new benchmark in the company's smartphone portfolio as it is its first device to feature a metal construction and a fingerprint scanner.

Micromax has put up the Canvas 6 Pro for pre-orders on its official online store. Unlike its companion, the Canvas 6 Pro doesn't have a metal body or a fingerprint scanner, but offers other premium features such as 4GB RAM, Around YU integration and a powerful Helio processor.

Micromax Canvas 6 Pro is powered by a 64-bit 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio octa-core processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB onboard storage. The handset sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1920x1080 pixels resolution, a fully laminated touch panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. As for the camera, the Canvas 6 Pro sports a 13MP primary camera with LED flash, PDAF and 5P Largan lens, and a 5MP front-snapper with 85.7-degree wide-angle 4P Largan lens.

With all these premium specs, the Canvas 6 Pro has a plastic body with a removable back cover. The handset comes pre-loaded with apps such as Zomato, Ola, Ixigo and Gaana, and supports high-speed 4G LTE Cat-4 bands. Micromax Canvas 6 Pro is priced at Rs. 13,999 and can be pre-booked with an advance payment of Rs. 1,000 ahead of becoming available April 20.

While the Canvas 6 Pro is a performance-driven handset, the Canvas 6 is focused more on the design. The full-metal smartphone has a fingerprint scanner on the back and matches the Canvas 6 Pro on other levels. It has the same 5.5-inch Full HD display, 3,000mAh battery and 13MP primary camera. The handset comes with a slightly lower 3GB RAM, but has 32GB built-in storage and an 8MP front camera. It is also powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor.

Micromax did not reveal the Canvas 6 Pro's pricing, but the handset is expected to be available within the next four weeks along with other smart devices, Indian Express reported. The handset is also expected to be available for pre-orders on the official online store soon.

Micromax also launched other smartphones at the event, including Micromax Bolt Supreme, Bolt Supreme 2, Bolt Q381, Canvas Spark 2+, Canvas Evok, Canvas Mega 2 and Canvas Unite 4.

"The new product portfolio aims at enabling users to have a seamless experience in finding solution for their needs across different categories and varied price points," Shubhajit Sen, chief marketing officer at Micromax Informatics, said in a statement.
