Meizu, one of China's leading smartphone makers, has announced its official India launch date. The 'Meizu Brand Launch' will be held on 27 August, 2015 in New Delhi.

Like all other Chinese smartphone makers, Meizu also focuses on the affordable smartphone market with a better price-to-specification ratio. Though the invite does not speak of any particular model to be launched, rumours suggest the company might launch its MX5.

Unlike the existing Meizu smartphones available in the country, the MX5 belongs to the mid- budget segment and is expected to compete with OnePlus 2, HTC One M9 Plus, ASUS ZenFone 2 Deluxe and Xiaomi Mi4.

Powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 SoC, the Meizu MX5 packs 3GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage. It also features a 5.5-inch, 1080x1920 pixels AMOLED display overlaid with Corning Gorilla glass 3. The handset houses a 20.7MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Like the OnePlus 2, the Meizu MX5 also features a fingerprint sensor on the home button for added security.

Meizu is also rumoured to launch another device, named the MX5 Pro. Technology website Droidfeed has published an assumed image of the device. The Meizu MX5 Pro is supposed to be powered by Samsung Exynos 7420 SoC seen in Samsung's current flagship device Galaxy S6. Meizu might also launch a 6-inch display version of MX5 Pro.

Meizu MX5 is currently available in Europe for €260, which roughly translates to Rs 18,500.
