A massive fire gutted down the sets of popular mythological serial "Devon Ke Dev Mahadev" causing several crores worth of damage.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Poman village near Vasai, Maharashtra. Four fire engines arrived on the sets to bring the fire under control.

The costumes of the entire cast and equipment worth crores were destroyed. But the lead actors of the serial and entire cast and crew escaped unhurt.

"There are about four fire engines here. Thankfully, we evacuated the sets immediately, so no one was injured on the sets," show's producer, Nikhil Sinha, told Mid-Day.

Sinha also said that around 200 trunks of costumes of the entire cast were there on the sets, which was destroyed by the fire.

"The serial has been airing for nearly three years now, so a considerable number of costumes and props were stacked together on the sets. It is difficult for me to assess the damage, it will be clear only after the fire has been doused," Sinha added.

"Given that a lot of costumes and jewellery items were stocked on the sets, the damage may run into crores of rupees. Costumes of mythological shows are expensive as specially made for the show."

The cause of the fire is not known yet and the producers are looking for alternate sets to continue the shoot of the mythological serial.

Last year, a fire gutted down the sets of popular comedy show "Comedy Nights With Kapil" due to short circuit. Several high-end equipments were destroyed in the fire, due to which producers had to incurred a loss of around ₹20 crore.
