That Bioware is currently engrossed in the development of a new Mass Effect game isn't rumour anymore. Called Mass Effect Andromeda, the new game is set to be the fourth instalment in the series, following the popular Mass Effect 3. Even though the game has indeed been revealed, we still knew almost nothing about it till now.
With the release of the next Mass Effect still some time away before it goes gold, a host of things have been said and written about the game. Here, we take a look at everything we know so far about Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Mass Effect: Andromeda – Setting
While the new Mass Effect remains loyal to the previous universe where the original trilogy for the series took place, this is not a story that involves either Captain Shepard or the Reapers. This time, the setting is entirely different from what we had been treated to previously – rumoured to be the Helius Cluster. This is a new, big place that's currently unknown, but promises more new adventures and races.
Mass Effect: Andromeda – Multiplayer
As far as we know, Mass Effect 3's co-operative multiplayer is set to return for Andromeda, as confirmed by Bioware's Chris Wynn in a previous comment on Twitter. Unfortunately, that's all we know for co-op. However, expect better multiplayer features and a few added components when the game finally comes around.
Mass Effect: Andromeda – Combat Mechanic
For the enhanced combat system that's set for the upcoming Mass Effect, it seems like Bioware has borrowed components of it heavily from the previous game in the series. Again, for the combat system in the game, according to Wynn, not only will the new Mass Effect: Andromeda borrow bits and parts of that from ME3, there will some added elements to it that will offer more dynamism.
Mass Effect: Andromeda – Release Date
The game is currently set for a 'Holiday 2016' release window, meaning the game should be out during the October to December period next year. However, if history has taught us anything from the Mass Effect universe – the big delay of Mass Effect 3 – don't take anything at face value. But according to Bioware, things are currently on course.
Mass Effect: Andromeda – Random Rumours
Going by whatever everyone else is writing about the game, it seems the new Mass Effect will form some kind of a link with the previous games in the series. If rumours are to be believed, fans can expect a few of the NPC from the previous game to make a return. It is being said that there will be returning races, N7-inspired armour and the return of the Mako rover. While the previous versions of the Mako never really sat well with fans, the new one is expected to arrive with major improvements on board.
