If the emerging reports are anything to go by, the auto lovers in India could soon get a chance to hold the steering wheel of the highly-anticipated Viatara Brezza compact SUV from the house of Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker.

A report of The Economic Times reveals that Maruti Vitara Brezza, which made its global debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi last week, will be launched in India as early as March. Maruti is looking to launch its new offering in the Indian market towards the end of March. The Vitara Brezza, which will come to the market with 98 percent localisation, is expected to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 8.2 lakh.

The Vitara Brezza, the first vehicle to be conceived, designed, developed and validated in India by Maruti R&D team led by Chief Engineer CV Raman is expected to be offered in six variants – LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+. At the heart of the new compact SUV is a 200 DDis engine, which can churn out 88.5bhp of power @4,000 rpm and 200Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm, with a five-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of dimensions, Maruti Vitara Brezza measures 3,995mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,640mm in height and has a boot size of 328litres. When launched, the Vitara Brezza will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport in India.
