It looks like Maruti Suzuki is leaving no stone unturned in its attempt to cement the leading position in the auto market. If the emerging reports are true, the country's largest car maker is working on a new seven-seater MPV that is based on its tall-boy design Wagon R.

A report of Gaadiwaadi reads that Maruti's Wagon R MPV which is currently under development would be on the road for testing soon. Codenamed YJC, Wagon R MPV is likely to see the light of the day by September next year. Apparently, the vendors of Maruti has been asked to ready the components for its next MPV.

It is also learnt that Maruti Wagon R MPV is likely to be offered in both diesel and petrol engine options.

Maruti is launching its premium hatchback Baleno in India on 26 October. To be sold through Maruti Nexa premium showrooms, Baleno will be squared off against Honda New Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. The bookings for new Baleno are open in the country and when launched, Maruti is likely to price its new hatchback offering between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh.
