Adam Levine, the frontman of pop-rock band Maroon 5, has been named the 'Sexiest Man Alive' of 2013 by People Magazine on Tuesday.

The singer now joins the glamorous list of Ryan Reynolds, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum and Matt Damon, among other prior winners of the title. The hot crooner Levine beat 12 other contenders for the role. Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, Bruno Mars, Chris Pine and Luke Bryan were some of the other sexy men of the year.

Levine also appeared on the cover of the magazine. He was pleasantly surprised by the announcement.

"As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn't really think that this was on the table. I was just amazed and stunned and it almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren't, so that's cool," Levine said to the magazine.

"I feel fantastic. I feel sexy," Levine said on NBC's The Voice in response to the announcement, reports USA Today.

In the feature inside, Levine reveals some little personal titbits about himself. He says he cries at the movies, especially E.T. (aww!) and loves being Naked.

Why not, when he has such a hot body!

So what is the secret to his lean-mean abs. It is 'Yoga' that keeps him fit. He apparently practices yoga everyday and even travels with an instructor, practicing asanas before concerts!

He further revealed that he wants to settle down with his fiance Behati Prinsloo soon.

"I didn't think marriage was for me for a long time. I was ready when I was ready. That's about as simple as it could possibly be," Levine said.

Considering the good times he has had this year, (he launched his own men's clothing line at Kmart, dominated at the singing reality show 'The Voice' and also landed his first feature film) the title seems justified.

However, People (literally) are not very happy with the selection. While some clearly believe that Levine didn't deserve the award, others say that the title has just been given on the basis of popularity.

A comment on People Magazine's page read:

"I think this award is pretty ridiculous..There are hundreds of thousands of men who would be considered way more "sexy"...If you mean manly and handsome..this guy is pretty average and not particularly masculine...My 34 year old son is a hundred times better looking..with woman constantly chasing after him..this award is bogus..the guy is nothing to get excited about..really.."

There were about 509 comments on the page and most of them criticized Levine and the magazine for choosing him as the winner. Some rooted for their favorites like Ryan Gosling, and Antonio Banderas. One even suggested Steve Martin!

However, fans are pretty pleased.
