Maria Sharapova won the French Open 2012, beating Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 in the final on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Russian has now completed a career grand slam. She has Wimbledon 2004, US Open 2006, Australian Open 2008, and French Open 2012 in her kitty.

Errani had beat Samantha Stosur of Australia 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 in the semifinals, to set the stage to meet the Russian tennis ace in the final at Roland Garros.

Sharapova was in control of the match from the very start, but the 25-year-old Italian made thing difficult for the top player in the world. Sharapova had to earn many of her point by covering a great deal of the court due to Errani's impressive shot selection.
