The popstar girlfriend of David De Gea has reportedly confirmed the Spain international goalkeeper is on his way to Real Madrid from Manchester United.

De Gea to Real Madrid has been one of the transfer sagas of the summer, with the move stretching and stretching, when most thought it would end pretty quickly.

Apparently Manchester United and Real Madrid have not been able to agree on a fee, even if De Gea has shown his inclination for a move to the Bernabeu.

De Gea, though, has not put in a transfer request, with the goalkeeper training in a professional manner, despite the rumours surrounding his departure, according to manager Louis Van Gaal.

There is an inevitability about the transfer, however, and it will definitely be better for both parties to put an end to the doubts and make a decision either way, with that decision looking likely to be along "David De Gea Signs for Real Madrid" lines, according to the player's girlfriend Edurne Garcia.

"'Now, when he is in Madrid, everything will be much easier," Garcia was quoted as saying off camera by El Mundo."

If and when the De Gea transfer goes through, Manchester United have replacements in place. Initially it was being reported that the replacement would be Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, but according to L'Equipe, it is set to be Tottenham custodian Hugo Lloris.

The French newspaper says a deal has pretty much been agreed, with Lloris, who has missed a bit of preseason through injury, quite keen on the move to Old Trafford.

It makes more sense for Manchester United to sign Lloris, as the France international comes with Premier League experience, even if Ed Woodward will probably have to go higher than the €30million (£21m) the report was quoting.

While Van Gaal is more familiar with Cillessen, having worked with the goalkeeper in the Netherlands national team, Lloris is surely a better option, at least on paper.
