Malayalam movie "Varsham", starring Mammootty in the lead, is set to release on 6 November.

In the film, directed by Ranjith Sankar, Mammootty will play as Venu, who runs a business in Thrissur. Veteran actor TG Ravi plays the villain role after a long gap in this film. Ravi, who was known for his villainous characters during the 70s and 80s in Malayalam, will appear as Manavalan Peter in "Varsham." TG Ravi had earlier appeared in a pivotal role in Ranjith's "Punyalan Agarbhathis".

"My next project 'Varsham' is going to be a family entertainer with Mammootty in the lead. The USP of this film will be its characters and their performances," said director Ranjith to International Business Times, India Edition.

Varsham" revolves around Venu and his struggles and rift with Peter. The film discusses the five stages of Venu's life and Mammootty will be seen in five different get-ups for his role in the film.

Asha Sharath plays the role of Nandini, the protagonist's wife and Mamtha Mohandas plays the role of Dr Jayashree, also a lead character in the film.

"Varsham" also has Govind Padmasurya, Sunil Sugatha, Sudhir Karamana, Harish Perady, Jayaraj Warrier, Irshad and Sajitha Madathil in pivotal roles.

Earlier it was reported that "Varsham" will hit theatres for Diwali, but the makers later announced the release date as 6 November. The mass release of Tamil film "I" starring Vikram for this Diwali is said to be the reason for postponing the "Varsham" release.

The story, screenplay and dialogues of this Mammootty starrer is done by Ranjith himself. The cinematography of the film is handled by Manoj Pillai and is edited by Sagar Raj.

The music is composed by Bijipal and the lyrics are written by Santhosh Varma and Jayageetha. "Varsham" is produced by Mammootty under the banner of Play House.
