After making a mark in Kollywood with the hit films "Thalapathi" and "Kandukondain Kandukondain", megastar Mammootty is all set to make his comeback to the Tamil film industry with "Thanga Meenkal" director Ram's upcoming movie "Peranbu".

"Angadi Theru" actress Anjali will be seen as the female lead as a transgender prostitute, and Sadhana, the child artiste of "Thanga Meenkal", will play a pivotal role in the National Award-winning director's upcoming movie. Anjali had earlier worker with Ram in the 2007 movie "Kattradhu Thamizh", for which she won the best debut actress award.

Reports suggest the film, which will deal with the topics like human emotions and relationships, is set to go on floors from 6 January in Kodaikanal. The makers have released the first-look poster of the movie, which is produced by PL Thenappan under the banner of Shree Raaja Lakshmi Films. Prominent composer Yuvan Shankar Raja handles the music for the drama film. The details on the rest of cast and crew of the film are expected to be revealed soon.

Mammootty, who made his debut in Tamil with K Madhu's crime thriller "Mounam Sammadham" in 1990, later appeared in the movies "Azhagan", "Pudhayal", "Edhirum Pudhirum" and "Karmegham", among others. However, his last Tamil film "Vandematharam", directed by T Aravind, failed to mark at the box office.

Meanwhile, the "Pathemari" actor is awaiting the release of AK Sajan's family entertainer "Puthiya Niyamam", opposite Nayantara, in which they play the characters of Adv Louis Pothen and Vasuki, respectively. The movie is expected to release on 15 January. The megastar will also be seen in Uday Ananthan's "White" opposite Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi. "White", which is majorly shot in London, tells the story of a billionaire who falls in love with a 25-year-old woman.
