Mahindra S101

S101, a sub-four metre compact SUV based on an all-new monocoque platform, is expected to be a six seater. Under the hood, it is speculated to feature Mahindra's newly developed engines. Rumours are rife that the engine line-up will include 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre, three-cylinder diesel engines, which are expected to churn out 80bhp. The S101 is rumoured to have both Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) and manual transmission.

As for features, from what we heard so far, expect new S1091 to get features like anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and electronic stability programme. When launched, S101 is like to be pitted against Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

Mahindra U301

U301, a sub-four meter SUV will be riding on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis and is expected to get a larger screen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents. The model, which is designed to rival Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano is likely to stay true to Mahindra's SUV heritage with rugged and boxy styling.

The power is likely to come from Mahindra's new engines. Mahindra is developing seven new engines to power its future vehicles, which includes 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, and a 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine.
