The first game that Nintendo focused at its Treehouse: Live E3 2016 event on June 14 was "The Legend of Zelda." Moreover, the publisher finally revealed the full title of this action-adventure video game series that has been running for 30 years as "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Open world adventure

Link, the protagonist with pointy ears, wakes up from a 100-year slumber only to find the world in danger.

Link has to save the world from Calamity Ganon, a monster who took over the Hyrule Castle about a century ago and has brought all the dangers.

Link will not be able to reach every point in the game at one go, he is also less equipped. But the game boasts of a non-linear story line. Since the game is an open world one, Link can roam around and choose his own path through the realm.

Search for health booster

Link will not be able to sustain with just three hearts of health on these long journey in "Breath of the Wild." He will have to hunt for items that might boost his health. He will find apples on trees and mushrooms near the mountains, he can also hunt deer and rodents in the country side. These items can also be roasted to create dishes with different effects.

Stealth and crafting

Link is seen using stealth to take on enemies. He will be able to crouch and surprise enemies with sudden attack. He is also able to craft special arrows as the protagonist is able to mine ore, chop trees and use magical devices.

His primary weapons are sword, shield and bow.

He is also able to steal weapons from enemies and turn it against them. The game will also have weapons that can break easily and players will have to be on the guard with such weapons.

New mechanics

Link is now not only able to run and open treasure chests but he is also able to leap across gaps, can make jumps, and is able to sprint without the need of any special boots. He is also able to climb up or climb down from any surface in the game, including castles, mountains and more.

It was also noted that the addition of the jumping mechanics was the first for 3D Zelda games.

New technology

It was revealed that technology will play a major role in the game. The trailer reveals use of the Sheikah Stone and "Resurrection Chamber" machine.

Day and night cycle

The game will feature a day-night cycle and hot and cold environment.

Puzzles

The game will feature Shrines of Trials that includes puzzles players need to solve and traps that have to be avoided and other hidden items that need to be discovered in these dungeons.

Voice Acting

The game features voice acting in the trailer that many have reported. The existence of such a feature changes a lot of things about the series. There seems to be a mixed reaction among fans over the existence of voice acting in the game. Link, many feel, has no requirement to speak.

The voice that is heard is from Zelda who is seen asking Link to wake up from his long slumber.

At E3 2016 floor

Nintendo reportedly has an entire booth to promote "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"

Amiibo support

The game features amiibo support and Nintendo has plans to release three new figures compatible with the game: Archer, Rider and Guardian.

Trailer

Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure," says the description in the trailer.

The trailer showcases the focus of the game on open-world and lets us have a glimpse of the amazing vistas, castles, forests, temples and volcanoes.

Platforms

The game is being released on the Wii U console and later on to the yet-to-be-revealed Nintendo NX platform.

Release

The game is expected to be released in March 2017.
