The latest TV spot of "Kung Fu Panda 3", titled "A Father Rises", features a funny reference to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" by JJ Abrams.

The trailer shows the new character, Li, telling Po, "I am your father", as he struggles to crawl up the stairs breathing heavily in the same manner as Darth Vader. Meanwhile, Po can seen looking at Li in disbelief.

After finally managing to climb the stairs, Li asks, "What's with all the stairs?"

Suddenly, Mr. Ping then appears on the screen. He asks Po who the other guy is and why he is breathing so heavily, adding that it sounds creepy.

The Latin Post mentioned that while Li may not be as evil as Darth Vader in "Kung Fu Panda 3", but Po will find handling his long-lost father to be a challenge.

However, Screen Rant reported that unlike Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, who fought against each other in a war of good and evil, Li and Po will embark upon a journey to find the "secret panda paradise" and eventually will unite to face a common danger.

Even though the trailer is inspired by the plot of "Star Wars" and is not quite original, the parody of Luke-Vader moment along with the familiar fun element of "Kung Fu Panda" has made it fairly interesting and fun to watch.

DreamWorks Animation is set to release "Kung Fu Panda 3" in theatres on 29 January, 2016.
