Kannada star Upendra is all set to make his 46th birthday a special one.

The actor's upcoming flick "Superu Ranga" will be released on his birthday, 18 September. This announcement has become a reason for his fans to celebrate their favourite star's birthday in a special way.

Recently, the film's audio was launched and Upendra has rendered his voice for a song, which begins with the lines "Dance Raja Dance" composed by Arjun Janya and the lyrics by K. Kalyan.

The audio launch event was attended by Upendra, Priyanka Upendra, businessman Kupendra Reddy, Sanjana, Neha Patil, Priyanka Rao, producers Ramu, S. V. Babu, A. Ganesh and Umesh Banakar among others.

"Superu Ranga" is the remake of Surendar Reddy's Telugu blockbuster film "Kick", which starred Ravi Teja and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead.

Following the success, the film was then remade in Tamil as "Thillalangadi" starring Jayam Ravi, Shaam and Tamannah in the lead. Unlike its original version, the Tamil remake was reviewed as a below average film and turned out to be an average grosser in the industry.

Among the remakes, the Bollywood version with the same title, starring Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead became the most popular with a gross total more than ₹377 crore. The film also saw Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles. The screenplay of the Hindi version was done by Sajid Nadiadwala and Chetan Bhagat.

The Nadiadwala directorial opened in theatres with mixed reviews, but became a blockbuster hit with a week of its release and became the fourth highest grossing Bollywood film worldwide.

Meanwhile, the Kannada version "Superu Ranga" is directed by Sadhu Kokila and has Kriti Karbanda and Priyanka Rao in the lead opposite Upendra. This will be Kokila's third film with Upendra. They have earlier worked together in "Raktha Kanneeru" and "Anatharu".

"Superu Ranga" also has Raghu Mukerjee, Doddanna, Rangayana Raghu, Bullet Prakash, Sidlingu Sridhar and Mimicry Dayanadh in pivotal roles. The film is produced by K. Manju and the cinematography is done by Ashok Kashyap.
