Salman Khan's "Kick" has shattered the first week record of Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" and the film has also surpassed the ₹200 crore mark worldwide.

First Week record

Salman's "Kick" finished its first week on Thursday with ₹164.09 crore and with that the film has achieved the blockbuster status in India.

"Kick" was released on 25 July in more than 4000 screens in India and 700 screens overseas. Being a solo release, the film had managed to pull the crowds towards it. "Kick" has now registered the third highest first week total, after Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" and Hrithik Roshan's "Krrish 3".

"Kick" also broke the first week record of "Chennai Express" by big margin. "Chennai Express", which was released last year in August during Eid, had earned ₹156.7 crore in its first week, which includes paid preview.

Here is the first week breakup of "Chennai Express" and "Kick: 

Chennai Express: Paid Preview ₹6.75 crore, Friday ₹33.12 crore, Saturday ₹28.05 crore, Sunday ₹32.5 crore, Monday ₹12.62 crore, Tuesday ₹11.5 crore, Wednesday ₹12.56 crore, Thursday ₹19.6 crore.

Kick: Friday ₹26.40 crore, Saturday ₹27.15 crore, Sunday ₹30.18 crore, Monday ₹14.41 crore, Tuesday ₹28.89 crore, Wednesday ₹21.66 crore and Thursday 15.4 crore.

Worldwide 200 crore Club

With its strong box office performance, "Kick" has surpassed the ₹200 crore mark within its first week at the worldwide box office. Till Wednesday, the film raked in ₹36.25 crore from overseas market and ₹164.04 crore from domestic box office in first week. The combined overseas and domestic total of the film now stands at ₹200.29 crore.

The film directed by Sajid Nadiadwala will continue to roar at the box office in second week, as no films have released this Friday. "Kick" will face competition in its third week with the release of Akshay Kumar's "Entertainment". But till then "Kick" will dominate the overseas and domestic box office.
