With the withdrawal of 'A' class theatres' state wide 4-day strike in Kerala on Thursday night, the much awaited Malayalam films will hit the screens this Christmas locking horns against each other.

Dulquer's "Charlie", Dhyan Sreenivasan's "Adi Kapyare Kootamani", Unni Mukundan's "Style", Dileep's "Two Countries" and Manju Warrier's "Jo and the Boy" are set to be released on 24 and 25 December as a Christmas treat to Kerala audiences.

Interestingly, all the five movies fall under different categories making each one of them a must watch film this festive season.

The makers of Martin Prakkat-Dulquer Salmaan film "Charlie" had scheduled to release the film on Friday, 18 December in order to avoid the box office clash during Christmas. However, due to the theatre strike, the movie's release has been postponed affecting the one week revenue the film was expected to make.

With the pre-release hype "Charlie" got, the romantic film is expected to make good business as many of DQ fans are eagerly waiting to watch the onscreen chemistry of the young actor with Parvathy yet again, after the blockbuster hit "Bangalore Days".

If you wish to laugh out loud, "Adi Kapyare Kootamani" might be a good option this Christmas as Dhyan, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav are known for their comedy entertainers till date. The film is also expected to make good business this Christmas season.

Last year, Dileep's "Ivan Maryadharaman" was released during Christmas time and the actor is all set to entertain his fans through the comedy film "Two Countries" and the audiences are expecting to see the onscreen chemistry of Dileep and Mamta Mohandas after their hit movie "My Boss".

The production house Friday Film House has made good business with the films "Philips and the Monkey Pen", "Peruchazhi" and "Aadu". The team's upcoming movie "Jo and the Boy", starring Manju Warrier and Master Sanoop in the titular roles is also said to be truly entertaining like the previous films. Ever since, Manju made her comeback to acting with Rosshan Andrews' film "How Old Are You", she has been selective about her roles and the movie's posters and teasers released till now promise it to be a feel good movie.

Unni Mukundan's "Style" has already raised the expectations of the movie-goers after the release of its trailer that is filled with some Hollywood style action sequences. Whether or not it will beat its competitors to emerge victorious is something we need to wait and watch.

However, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is enjoying the top spot at the Kerala box office with his back-to-back releases "Ennu Ninte Moideen", "Amar Akbar Anthony" and "Anarkali" doesn't have any films for this festive season. None of Mammootty and Mohanlal films are hitting the screens this year end.
