Vijay-Murugadoss' "Kaththi" is all set to create new benchmarks in the US, UK and other foreign nations when the film hits the screens during the Diwali festival period.

"Kaththi" will be having grand openings, thanks to the number of screens being booked for the film. Recently, there were reports that the Vijay starrer will be released in record number of over 200 screens in Kerala and the latest we hear is that "Kaththi" is set to have a record release in the US and the UK as well.

Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" was released in 104 screens and "Kaththi" is expected to beat that record by releasing in 105 screens in the US, according to recent reports.

In the UK, "Kaththi" is set to release in 70 screens. The Vijay starrer will be the first south Indian film to release in over 120 screens in Malaysia, 20 screens in Canada and 24 in France, reported OnlyKollywood.

The film's screen count from Tamil Nadu is likely to be 450 with 80 screens in Coimbatore and 45 screens in Trichy-Tanjore area. Details about the screen count for the Telugu version is yet to be available. Official announcement on the total screen count for the Tamil and Telugu versions are expected to be made soon.

Directed by Murugadoss, "Kaththi" has Vijay in dual roles. The film also has Samantha, Tota Roy, Neil Nithin Mukesh and comedian Sathish in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Anirudh, while the film is produced by Lyca Productions and Ayngaran International.

"Kaththi" has completed the censor formalities and has received a clean "U" certificate. The Vijay starrer is eligible for tax exemption in Tamil Nadu and it would give a big boost for the film. The action thriller is likely to take humongous openings worldwide as Vijay has a huge fan base.

The film will be clashing with Vishal's "Poojai" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year", which are also set to hit theatres as a Diwali release. While "Kaththi" is expected to dominate the screens in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the film might be facing huge competition from "Happy New Year" in the overseas markets.

The Telugu version of "Kaththi" is also expected to release simultaneously on the same day, but there is no official confirmation regarding this.
